Behind the Story
Crumby Adventures began with a simple family joke.
One day, my daughters and I spotted a little popcorn crumb in our truck and began imagining that no one had dropped it there. Instead, it had gotten there on its own. Before long, we were joking about crumbs exploring the house, setting off on adventures, and turning up in the most unexpected places.
That small idea became the spark for Crumby Adventures. After all, crumbs seem to appear everywhere. What if they weren’t accidents, but tiny characters making their way through a world built for someone much bigger?
The result was Beyond the Pantry, a playful story about courage, curiosity, friendship, and discovering just how big the world can be when you are only a tiny crumb.

Scott McFadden is the author and creator of Crumby Adventures. The idea for the series grew out of the funny stories and imaginary worlds he created with his two daughters.
Scott lives in Arizona with his wife, daughters, and the occasional crumb that turns up where it probably shouldn’t. Beyond the Pantry is the first book in the Crumby Adventures series.
